Hello,
My name is Aleksandra and I am a first-year student at New Bulgarian University. In my very first year I decided to sign up for a student summer job together with a friend of mine. One January day the two of us visited the NGB Consulting office. They offered us a placement in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and we accepted. The whole preparation was very exciting. We were eagerly looking forward to our departure. Time passed very quickly and we left around mid-May. The flight was easy and pleasant, despite a 9-hour layover in Paris. We arrived in Boston late in the evening and took a bus from the airport to Portland, Maine. Our employer was waiting for us at the station. An amazing woman – smiling, welcoming, very radiant and full of energy. She put us up for the night at the hotel. She had prepared dinner for us. Tired from the journey, my friend and I quickly fell asleep. On the first morning we woke up early and took a walk to explore the town. An amazing, charming little town with an incredible atmosphere and a beach. We worked as housekeepers; the work wasn't hard – it was fun. The whole team was amazing and extremely kind and friendly. I worked at two places. The team at my second job was also very good and close-knit. I met many new people from all over the world, with whom I made incredible memories that will last a lifetime. Every single moment was unforgettable. The parties, the walks, the work itself – everything is unforgettable. Every evening students of different nationalities on the Work and Travel program got together and had a wonderful time. At the end of the season my friend and I went on vacation to Boston. An amazing city full of life, incredible architecture and landmarks. As always, all good things come to an end. The day came for us to return to Bulgaria. The evening before, our employers had organized a dinner where the whole staff gathered, and everything was wonderful. Saying goodbye was sad, with many tears. This summer will always remain etched in my mind. A summer filled entirely with pleasant moments and emotions, new acquaintances, amazing people and dreams come true. I wish every student could experience what I was able to experience.
America is a dream come true!
