The LAL Torbay center is located in the beautiful seaside resort of Paignton, one of the three towns that make up the Torbay area. It is situated in a quiet and pleasant residential area, close to the town center and the beach.
Courses
Vacation English- 20 English lessons (15 hours per week) - Daily activities, except Sundays.
- Vacation English Plus- 20 English lessons (15 hours per week) - Daily activities / excursions, except Sundays, 1 full-day excursion on Saturday and organized activities on 3 evenings
- Abitur 30- 30 English lessons (22.5 hours per week)- 3 days of organized activities / excursions, except Sundays.
Groups consist of a maximum of 15 students of different nationalities. The classrooms are large and equipped with modern facilities. Students are tested on arrival and at the end of their course to check their progress. The center provides its own level-based textbook, which is given to each student in the respective level. It is designed with an emphasis on communication and discussion of current topics. A certificate of attendance and a teacher's report are prepared for each student.
Excursions and other activities
The summer camp includes one full-day excursion and 5 half-day excursions per week. They are led by the language camp staff and are compulsory.
Other leisure activities offered by the language camp include arts and crafts, games, quizzes, organized discos, team challenges and more.
- Full-day excursions – Bath, Tintagel&Bude, Eden Project, Plymouth&National Marine Aquarium, Land’s End.
- Half-day excursions – Mini Olympics, Splashdown Quaywest, Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts, Kents Cavern, Exeter, Darmouth, Brixham by Boat, Dartmoor, Battlefield Live, Woodlands Adventure park, Pirate Golf, Ice Skating, Cinema, Bownling.
Accommodation and Meals
- Hotel with 2 or 4 beds per room
- Host family - room with 2 or more beds, shared bathroom
Full board is provided for all types of accommodation. Breakfast is provided at the host family and at the hotel. A packed lunch for excursions is provided either by the host family or by the school. Dinner is included at the host family, at the hotel or at a local restaurant.
