Life-guards in USA
What is "Life-guards in USA"?
This is a cultural exchange program approved by the US State Department. It helps people to get acquainted with the American culture and way of life. As a participant in this program you will live and work in the USA through your summer holiday. The program gives you the opportunity to improve your English, to make new friends from the US and all over the world, and to visit the most famous American sightseeing places.

What is included in the program?
- initial interview in English;
- preparation of the documents;
- interview with your intended employer;
- preparation for visa interview and filling the necessary documents for the Consulate;
- coordination and information for buying airplane ticket;
- accommodation in the apartments.

Am I eligible to participate?
Yes, if you are:
- a Bulgarian or foreign full-time student;
- aged between 18 and 28 years;
- have an intermediate or higher level of English;
- can swim.
You may take the opportunity which the "Life-guard in USA" program gives to you – namely, to spend an unforgettable summer in the USA.

What will I work?
You will work as a life-guard in an American Pool. These are Pool s served by the American company Century Pool Management, running more than 600 pools in Maryland, Virdjinia, Massachusetts and the Capital Washington DC.
The company guarantee 40 hours per week, will be paid $7.5 per hour. The overtime rate is as $11.25 per hour.

What is the price of the program?
The price of the program is 650 USD.
They has to be paid in two installments:
- 250 USD – first installment via bank transfer;
- 400 USD – second installment as a personal check.
This price includes:
- Form DS 2019 – a document that gives you the right to apply for a J -1 visa at the US Consulate. The document specifies the period during which you will be allowed to legally work in the US.
- Medical insurance – it is valid for the period during which you have the right to legally work in the US. In case you decide to travel for an additional fifth month, you may extend your insurance at an additional cost.
- Job offer with a housing option – it specifies all the conditions related to the job position including pay rate, work time, rent, employer information, etc.
- Orientation in Bulgaria – at this orientation you will get useful advice and information related to your stay in the US , as well as help with filling out the J-1 visa documents.
- Help with filling out of the application documents and the J-1 visa documents.
- Help and support during your stay in the USA.
The price does not include:
- US Consulate fee for J-1 visa application - 140 USD;
- SEVIS fee - 35 USD;
- Airplane ticket;
- Your expenses in the US – food, housing, transportation, etc.
