What will I work on Work and Travel?

The participants in the program can work up to four months and have seasonal hospitality and tourism job that do not require special qualifications. You may have various jobs in hotels, restaurants, fast food chains, theme and national parks - places where a number of American students works, as well. Some of the job positions you might have are:

  • Banquet server – coctail waiter in hotels, restaurants, parties, etc.;
  • Bartender – selling of alcoholic beverages in a restaurant or a bar. Must be over 21 years old;
  • Busser– cleaning tables in a restaurant and taking the dishes away;
  • Car washer– cleaning and washing cars;
  • Cashier – work at the register in a store ot theater;
  • Cook – help with the food preparation in a restaurant kitchen;
  • Kitchen help– clean and wash dishes, help with food preparation in a restaurant kitchen;
  • Doorman – welcoming the guests and helping with their luggage;
  • Fast food server – sell food and beverages in fast food chains (McDonald's, Dairy Queen, Burger King и др.);
  • Front desk clerk – answer the phone and make reservations at a hotel reception;
  • Game/Ride attendant  - worker in a theme park;
  • Host/Hostess – welcoming of the guests in a restaurant, serving of food, cleaning the tables;
  • Housekeeper – clean guest rooms in hotel or motel;
  • Lifeguard – look after the safety of guests in resorts around lakes, beaches and pools. In most cases, a certificate is required for this position;
  • Retail sales – sell clothes, accsessories and souvenirs in stores;
  • Waiter/Waitress – taking menu orders in a restaurant, serving of food, cleaning tables;
  • Warehouse assistant – loading/unloading of trucks, moving of goods in the warehouse, etc.
